Who'd knew that collecting brine shrimp could be so interesting? Bob Allen gave a great talk about it on Friday. From where his club collects in Utah which was towards the southern part of the Great Salt Lake near I-80 close to where OSI (ocean star intl) harvests, to the reasons why brine shrimp take on different coloration, Bob's speech was chock of insightful tidbits. Case in point. In 2007, he collected 97 lbs of brine shrimp eggs, but did you know it comes out to something close to 11 billion eggs? Like how did he count them??
And another fact. Did you know that good brine shrimp eggs when dry should be dimpled?

Bob Allen is confirmed for May
I hope Bob Allen brings some goodies from Utah when he comes out. If it's not fish-related maybe some schwag from his camera store could work, or is that too much to hope for? My guess is most peeps will be more interested in learning about his success in breeding Sebae monos or Tanganyikan cichlids but I'm curious to hear his stories of running a camera store all those years just as much.
